Creating maximum standout for #HelloYellow Day

The challenge: YoungMinds is the UK’s leading mental health charity for young people, fighting to make sure no young person ever feels alone.

They asked us to breathe life into their 2024 #HelloYellow campaign, ahead of World Mental Health Day (10th October). Having just launched a rebrand, YoungMinds asked us to
create a positive campaign that inspires action across a hugely diverse audience. It needed to feel fresh and modern, connect with a diverse audience from school children to business leaders, and cut through the noise.

Our approach: Creating a visual identity that connects and inspires

1. A visual Identity designed to be noticed

‘Wear it Loud, Wear it Proud’ would become the key line to drive the youth-led campaign, leaning into YoungMinds' focus on the power of strong young voices. Every element of the campaign identity was created for maximum standout. A speech bubble became our key logo to call out the day and reinforce the message. Its hard, angular lines captured the power and impact behind the campaign.

2. Pops of
sunshine yellow

We brought in pops of sunshine yellow against a black and white palette to bring brightness and positivity to the comms.
Our typography choices were playful yet bold, reflecting the campaign’s upbeat and supportive spirit.

3. Supporting graphics and authentic photography

We created a suite of supporting graphics like hand-drawn icons and textures to add depth and personality to layouts. We coupled this with warm, authentic, full-of-life photography, showing unity and togetherness. These sat across posters, flyers in schools, social posts and emails to spark excitement in the lead-up to the big day – and to inspire fundraisers from start to finish.

The results: a campaign full of life, positivity, and unity
Increased awareness: the refreshed visual identity and rallying cry ensured that #HelloYellow reached schools, workplaces, and communities – encouraging everyone to wear yellow, raise money, and support essential mental health services for young people.

"Working with Whippet on the Hello Yellow ’24 campaign was a joy. Their creative expertise has truly elevated this campaign, making it our most successful to date. Thanks to their support, we were able to reach and inspire more young people than ever before."
