The latest M&S Food store opens in Cribbs Causeway
In 2019, the first-ever renewal store marked a new dawn for M&S Food, creating a supermarket with the soul of a fresh market. Over the past five years, we’ve worked closely with M&S to launch several stores across its estate, starting with the very first store in Hempstead Valley. During that time, we’ve developed, refined and explored even more ways to make shopping unforgettable for customers. So with that in mind, this led us to look at the next evolution of the renewal project with Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.

Our creative development process for Cribbs Causeway was clear:
Elevate our categories: Our next step was rethinking each store section. We crafted a clear design intent to subtly enhance the renewal programme, keeping product front and centre. We revisited the customer journey and overarching comms strategy to showcase M&S Food in a modern, fresh way.
Bring in new design elements: We collaborated with M&S Store Design across departments to introduce exciting new formats and update existing ones. For the first time, we installed multiple digital screens in areas like Beers, Wines, and Spirits. We also used innovative techniques like substrate printing with recycled materials, supporting M&S’ sustainability commitments in the Honey section. This allowed us to tell unique stories throughout the store and capture customers’ attention at every turn.
Leverage our innovations: Over the past few years, we’ve partnered with M&S on incredible innovation projects—and now we can showcase them all in one space. From the Hot Chicken counter to the Pizza oven, brand-new Bakery, and new format Café, customers were invited to explore and discover new product propositions at every corner.
We brought the new stage of M&S renewal to life with a cohesive store transformation that keeps customers coming back and positions M&S Food as a retail leader. Strategic communications ensure we deliver the right message without overshadowing the delicious products on the shelves. Our POS designs complement the offerings, with bold creative guiding customers through their journey and encouraging exploration.
